The lyrics to this track were written some 30 years ago in my damp, dark basement flat in Berlin Moabit. At the time I was supposedly studying German literature, on a few weekends helping out my landscape gardening buddy schlepping paving slabs, playing Dylan songs down at the Skorpion bar, but generally blissed out on drugs and drink. I still harbored grand illusions about composing a grand prog classic though, and "Manscape Gardening" was intended to be a huge twenty verses, twenty minutes long "Plague Of The Lighthouse Keepers" for the Berlin Wall generation. It never quite expanded, leaving me with two pages of large letter words and as good as no music. To my credit I was always able to recall the original melody of the first verses, although it only ever vaguely played in my head.
