All Too Soon 06:39
Don’t need no sociology To tell me we’re all barking up the wrong tree That we are barking mad That it’s oh so sad When reason escaped through the indoor Some hundred years ago We finally caught up with it Now we’re about to strangle it With what we think we know With the spirit of these times a-changing With the dust storms of dead souls a-raging With the fear of all and nothing Knocking loudly on the outdoor It’s not so funny anymore now This comedy of errors These habitual acts of terror Read all about it Beat all the bullshit You’re force-fed with a paper spoon And your skies hang in a constant dawn If you can’t howl at the moon It’s because it’s gone Just like you will be All too soon Don’t need no religion To forgive me for all our fathers’ sins Don’t need no god Oh god where should we begin When there’s no end to this stupidity To the slaughter of good men To the killing of children The thrill of suffering In your name war seems fair And hell is just another name for The waiting room of paradise While the cancer of beliefs spreads everywhere And there’s no cure far and wide We can live with all the doom and gloom In this eternal dawn When the tides of ignorance are no longer ruled by the moon Because it’s gone Just like we will be All too soon

I Found Home 05:57
Quiet days in Nevertown You on my mind you out of sight I can’t wait any longer But I just might Life is but a tasteless joke Can’t wipe that smile off of my face Restless yet happy to stay In this godforsaken place I’ve loved you And I love you even more now That you are gone I know where I belong I found home I found home I found home Just reached heaven in time After queuing up in hell For hours on end Had to get out of myself Bags full of small wonders In my shop of dreams A penny for your thoughts my dear Any in a while my dear I’ve loved you And I love you even more now That you are gone I know where I belong I found home I found home I found home

about

Whereas "THE SURRENDER OF REASON" dealt with the political upheavals of our times with anger, the mood on "EVERYWHERE ELSE" is more bleak and disillusioned. Most of these songs were written before the release of the previous album, a few numbers date back even further ("Ghosttown", "Home") and as far as thirty years when I came to make the UK my unintended home ("Stranger").
