Paris 2015 (Unreleased Demo)

from STRIPPED FRIENDS -The SOMBFAS Sessions by Schönfeld

about

I don't often respond to current affairs, but the terrorist shootings of the editorial staff of the Charlie Hebdo magazine in Paris January 2015 had me jotting down the lines "Though the time they are a-changing it's still the same old song" almost immediately after the event, and the words kept coming, full of anger, rage, of sadness, incomprehension. The flip-side of Dylan's prophetic hymn of some sort. A critique of all religions, political and worldly ignorance, and deadly fanaticism. I did well, but my poetic rush ebbed away towards the end. Still I intended to arrange a long track, basic melodies, easy instrumentation, a straight-forward folk song in Bob's classic style. Again I did well, but my folk ebbed away and the track disappeared under a digital pile among countless new and on-going projects. The lyrics sadly gained another lease of life in the shadow of the Novermber attacks, and the whole project is still on-the-go, here for now, the bare bones.
