Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep

from SOME OF MY BEST FRIENDS ARE SONGS by Schönfeld

/

about

Taken by its simplicity and beauty I included this poem by Mary Elizabeth Frye in the booklet of my previous album dedicated to my mother. But furthermore I wanted to set it to a melody and came up with this simple little tune, which I recorded late at night, singing very quietly as not to wake the wife. I am sure mother would have appreciated the use of the cymbal in the last section of the track, as it is the iconic instrument in Southern German folk music.
